Westminster Abbey, formally titled the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at Westminster, is an Anglican church in the City of Westminster, London, England. Since 1066, it has been the location of the coronations of 40 English and British monarchs and a burial site for 18 English, Scottish, and British monarchs. At least 16 royal weddings have taken place at the abbey since 1100

A few interesting facts….

The Oldest Door in Britain- The Abbey houses the oldest door in the UK, located near the Chapter House. This Anglo-Saxon treasure dates back to the 1050s, crafted from wood felled almost a thousand years ago.

The Vertical Burial of Ben Jonson- Celebrated playwright Ben Jonson couldn’t afford a full plot, so he was buried standing up in an 18x18 inch grave. During later work on a nearby grave, his bones and skull were actually found upright—a rare and eerie sight.
