This watercolour captures Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, a boutique winery and event venue in Virginia’s Monticello Wine Trail, just south of Charlottesville. Opened in 2011, the property was conceived by hospitality experts Dean Andrews and Lynn Easton Andrews as a purpose-built culinary vineyard.
 
The distinctive barn-style buildings, designed in a Virginia vernacular farm architecture circa 1840s style, makes them interesting and rooted top context. The farm sits on what was once the Albemarle County Fairground, with the slope cleared to create a hilltop venue overlooking the pristine valley and blue mountains beyond.

The buildings were constructed in under eight months by Geobarns of Vermont, using sustainable post-and-beam methods with reclaimed wood throughout. The winery practices sustainable viticulture, with geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater collection for irrigation, and non-toxic cellulose insulation. A custom Victorian greenhouse by Alitex was added in 2022, built into existing stone walls for thermal efficiency. The vineyard plants three signature varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Petit Verdot yum!
 The iconic 18-foot tall barn doors frame the mountain views like living postcards giving a wow Moment when opened.
