Wonderful painting of the 2017 installation on the side of this prominent hotel.
 
Ca’ Sagredo Hotel is a historic palazzo hotel on Venice’s Grand Canal, set between Ca’ d’Oro and the Rialto Bridge. It’s known as much for its art and architecture as for its rooms, with preserved frescoes, stuccoes, antiques, and a strong “half hotel, half museum” atmosphere.
 
The building was originally a 15th-century palace associated with the Sagredo family, an influential Venetian family. It includes much of their artwork and frescos, Forbes actually describes it as a national monument.
 
I painted it with the Lorenzo Quinn's hands. Quinn created the work for the 2017 Venice Biennale, and it was designed to look as if the hands were holding up the building and keeping it from sinking into the water. The hands were modeled after Quinn’s 11-year-old son.
 
Interesting facts...
Apparently a 'no-so-secret' visible secret door exists in the Music Room; behind it, a staircase once led to an upstairs bedroom, apparently intended for discreet trysts. Music is the food of love I guess!
