One of the rarest of the grand palaces. It's a hotel and home and also has a canal side garden. Oh and George Clooney was married here.

Aman Venice is the luxury hotel inside Palazzo Papadopoli on the Grand Canal in Venice. The building is a 16th-century palazzo, originally built for the Coccina family and later associated with the Papadopoli family; it was restored and turned into a hotel with just 24 rooms, plus a rare canal-side garden.

Architecturally, the building is important because it is not a purpose-built hotel but a historic Venetian palace, with frescoes, grand salons, a piano nobile, and layers of decoration from different periods.

Fascinatingly descendants of the Arrivabene family reportedly still occupy part of the building.

Interesting fact...

There is a preserved lamp in the entrance hall said to come from a Venetian ship that fought at Lepanto in 1571.
