The well traveled

The Travellers Club was founded with the most noble of aims. To foster friendships with those from other lands (all distinguished and all gentleman of course)

The club was established in 1819 by Viscount Castlereigh, Foreign Secretary and British Minister. following the end of the Napoleonic Wars.

June Verne was a member which is not surprising as the original rules of 1819 excluded from membership anyone “who has not travelled out of the British islands to a distance of at least five hundred miles from London in a direct line”!

The Travellers Club, St. James, London.
