The Royal Ocean Racing Club. The Club was established in 1925 and received royal approval by King George V in November 1931. It has two clubhouses one in Cowes and the other in St James’s Place

The first objective of the club: "To provide annually one ocean race not less than 600 miles in length” The race became the Fastnet race perhaps the most challenging in the world.

Almost a century later members have elected its first female commodore, the aptly named Dr Deborah Fish. Its beautiful varnished door does remind one of  the deck of a yacht.
