Source of one of London's urban myths.
The legend claims that the 6th Duke of Westminster (some versions say the 2nd Duke), who had a long affair with Coco Chanel in the 1930s, ordered her logo placed on every Westminster lamppost as a grand romantic gesture.
The ornate W stands for Westminster. The interlocking double C stands for City Council
