St. James Garden Square
The square has a central garden, which originally was a circular basin with a fountain and an octagonal enclosure. The garden was redesigned several times, most notably by Charles Bridgeman in the 18th century, John Nash in the 19th century, and John Brookes in the 20th century. The garden now has a cruciform layout with an equestrian statue of King William III at the centre. The statue was erected in 1808 and replaced the fountain. The garden also has a classical summerhouse designed by John Nash in 1818
