Shepherd Market is one of Mayfair’s most atmospheric corners: a small 18th-century village tucked between Piccadilly and Curzon Street, built by Edward Shepherd on the site of the old May Fair that gave Mayfair its name. It feels incredibly intimate, with narrow lanes, pubs, cafés, and a layout that still echoes its Georgian origins.

It was originally intended to have a duck pond. Although Shepherd was designed to replace a noisy, unruly fairground with a more refined urban pocket, but it has never lost its sense of mischief.
