Rules is London's oldest restaurant and has been serving traditional British food since 1798.
Rules stands on Maiden Lane in Covent Garden, a short walk from the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Its dark wood panelling, hunting prints and red upholstery give it the feeling of a Victorian dining room, although the restaurant's story begins even earlier.
Interesting facts…
Rules has attracted generations of actors, writers and politicians. It was a favourite of Charles Dickens, and its own game is supplied from an estate in the Highlands.
