The beginnings of a country
London’s smallest square Pickering Place can be found tucked behind Berry Bros. Duels, bear baiting and gambling took place here. However, In 1824 it was home to the Texas Legislature (embassy) making this Texan soil for a short while. Texas was at the time independent but soon joined the Union. Interestingly they left a large rent bill unpaid till the 1980s, when they sent a delegation to repay it.
