One Aldwych is a five‑star, independently owned hotel in Covent Garden, housed in a distinguished Edwardian building that began life as the headquarters of The Morning Post newspaper.

The site lies on the corner of Aldwych and Wellington Street, roughly where the old Gaiety Theatre stood before demolition in 1903 as part of the Aldwych–Kingsway road improvement scheme.

In 1905 the Morning Post commissioned a new headquarters and appointed the Anglo‑French “starchitects” Mewès & Davis—famous for The Ritz in London and Paris and the Royal Automobile Club—to design it.
