On March 15th 44 BCE, Julius Caesar was assassinated while attending a meeting of the Senate at the Curia Pompeia, which was part of the Theatre of Pompey.
In 1932 a bronze statue of Julius Caesar was erected in Via dei Fori Imperiali. It is a copy of an ancient marble statue of Caesar, which now stands in Palazzo Senatorio, the seat of Rome's city council
