Ede and Ravenscroft is London's oldest tailor, established in 1689 and still operating from its historic premises on Chancery Lane. The shop has been making legal robes, academic gowns, and ceremonial dress for over 330 years, supplying judges, barristers, and universities across the country. The interior retains its Victorian character, with dark wood fittings, brass measures, and rolls of traditional fabrics. It's a living piece of London's legal and academic heritage.

Interesting facts...

The company has held royal warrants since 1850 and continues to supply the Royal Household. Every judge's robe for the Supreme Court is still made by hand in their workshop. They made the robes for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The shop survived the Blitz and remains in the same location where it has traded for over three centuries. They still use traditional techniques, including hand-stitching and pattern-cutting methods unchanged since the 18th century.
