Westminster College in Cambridge is a theological college of the United Reformed Church on Madingley Road, just north‑west of the historic city centre.

It is a theological college whose principal purpose is training ministers and lay people within the United Reformed Church and wider Reformed traditions.

The institution began life in London in 1844, later moving to Queen’s Square before relocating to Cambridge in 1899 after a major land gift from biblical scholars Agnes Smith Lewis and Margaret Dunlop Gibson. Not actually part of the University of Cambridge but with much overlap.

Interesting facts...

Twin sisters Agnes Smith Lewis and Margaret Dunlop Gibson, self‑taught Semitic scholars used their manuscript‑hunting trips in the Middle East to fund a Reformed training college. The college has a wealth of manuscripts that sat unnoticed for decades.
