Trinity College, Oxford. It which was founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas Pope on the site previously occupied by Durham College, the college of Benedictine monks from Durham Cathedral. Trinity College’s heritage links closely to the Reformation and the redistribution of church property; after the dissolution of Durham College in 1545, Pope purchased the land and established the new college just 16 days later.
The college is noted for its picturesque gardens (shown above), distinctive mix of architectural styles, beautiful chapel, and the Main Quad featuring buildings from different historic periods.
