Trinity Church in New York City is a historic Episcopal parish located at 89 Broadway, opposite Wall Street in Lower Manhattan. It was founded in 1697 under a charter granted by King William III of England and is known for its Gothic Revival architecture designed by Richard Upjohn, completed in 1846.

The current building is the third church on the site; the first burned down in the Great Fire of 1776, and the second was demolished in 1839 due to structural issues.

The church’s 281-foot spire made it the tallest building in New York City until 1890 and the tallest in the U.S. for 23 years after its completion. Trinity Church has a rich history connected to the American Revolution and early U.S. figures, including George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, who is buried in its churchyard along with other notable figures like Eliza Hamilton and Angelica Schuyler Church.

Interesting facts...

The church looks dwarfed by the huge skyscrapers around it but actually it owns a lot of them. Trinity is one of the largest commercial landlords in New York City, managing real estate worth billions.
