Christ Church is one of the largest and most famous colleges at the University of Oxford. It has a unique feature having its college chapel also serve as the Cathedral for the Diocese of Oxford—the only such arrangement in the university or Church of England. It was founded in 1546 by Henry VIII who took it from Cardinal Wolsey after his fall from Grace. During the English Civil War, the Great Hall served as Parliament for King Charles I and the Deanery was his palace.

Tom Tower, shown above, designed by Christopher Wren; the famous bell Great Tom is still rung nightly—101 times for the original scholars plus one.

Interesting facts.

Whilst acting as parliament the building was attacked and hit by a cannonball. The dent is still visible.
