The University Club of New York is a prestigious private social club located at 1 West 54th Street and Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Founded in 1865 to promote literature and art, it is not affiliated with any other university or alumni clubs. The club is housed in a nine-story granite Renaissance Revival building designed by Charles Follen McKim and completed in 1899, now listed as a historic landmark. Membership is exclusive and requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, along with recommendations from existing members.
