Stephen’s House, a small, friendly Anglican theological college located in East Oxford. Founded in 1876 by members of the Oxford Movement, it serves as a formation and education center for ordained and lay ministry within the Church of England. The college occupies historic Victorian Gothic buildings, including a neo-Gothic church and cloister designed by George Frederick Bodley.

The college’s motto, “Video caelos apertos” is a quite lovely one meaning “I see the heavens opened”, derived from St Stephen’s words in the Acts of the Apostles
