St Anne’s College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford, England. Founded in 1879 initially as the Society of Oxford Home-Students to facilitate women of any financial background studying at Oxford, it gained full college status in 1959. Originally a women-only college, it admitted men starting in 1979 but still uses feminine terms like “alumnae” for its former students.
Notable former members include Amanda Pritchard (NHS Chief Executive), Tina Brown (editor), Helen Fielding (author), Simon Rattle (conductor), and others. The college combines tradition and modernity, with ongoing renovations to its accommodation to suit future students.
