South Farm in Royston is a renowned wedding venue straddling the Hertfordshire-Cambridgeshire border near the town. It’s a family-run countryside estate set on 20 acres of gardens, meadows, and barns.

Its history starts in the 16th century Tudor era. Its story intertwines with nearby Wimpole Hall, Cambridgeshire’s grandest house built in 1640 by Sir Thomas Chicheley, now a National Trust.

A standout curio is the Paxman engine, a 1913 portable boiler from Portuguese forests, shipped back by owner Philip Paxman—believed the largest extant of its kind, powering dual flywheels amid the barns.
