Pembroke College is a historic and vibrant constituent college of the University of Oxford, located on Pembroke Square in central Oxford. It was founded in 1624 by King James I and named for William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke, a former Chancellor of the University and Lord Chamberlain. The college occupies beautiful grounds and supports a lively academic and social community, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and interdisciplinary study.

Pembroke is affectionately dubbed “the pink college” owing to its mascot (the Pink Panther) and sports kit color.

 

Interesting facts...

Sir Roger Bannister, famous for breaking the four-minute mile, was once Master of Pembroke, and memorabilia relating to him are displayed in the college hall.
