Palazzo Loredan dell’Ambasciatore is a 15th-century Gothic palace on Venice’s Canal Grande, famous for its secret diplomatic history and distinctive architectural details.
 
The palace is notable for its loggia with three-lobed arches and decorative quadrilobate oculi—design elements harmonizing with nearby landmarks like Palazzo Giustinian, the Ducal Palace, and Ca’ d’Oro. The Austrian ambassadors leased it for 29 years starting in 1754, with the embassy responsible for restoration and paying rent upfront.
 
Interesting fact...
Giacomo Casanova tricked Giustiniana Wynne into having sex with him here. She was a longtime friend of Casanova and later lived here as the wife of the Austrian ambassador. It was quite scandalous at the time.
