Osteria alla Frasca first opened its doors in 1903 as a wine shop, not a restaurant. The name “alla Frasca” means “leafy branch” in Italian, referring to the grape vine pergola that still adorns the building’s facade today. For more than a century, the original sign reading “Alla Frasca Wines” has hung on the front—a rare survivor from the turn of the 20th century.

The building sits on Campo Tiziano, a quiet square named after the famous Renaissance painter Titian (Tiziano Vecellio), who is believed to have lived nearby. Its away from tourists so is intimate and suites this early evening painting

Interesting facts...

Locals believe that the building once served as a storage space for paintings by Titian during the Renaissance era.
