Nuffield College, Oxford, is a graduate college of the University of Oxford, founded in 1937 by Lord Nuffield (William Morris), the motor manufacturer. It specializes in the social sciences, particularly economics, politics, and sociology. Uniquely, it was the first Oxford college to admit both men and women from its inception and is exclusively for graduate students.

Interesting facts...

The college’s modernist tower and flèche, which rise prominently from the traditional Oxford skyline, caused some architectural debate and criticism. It was the first tower built in Oxford for 200 years, designed to hold the college library, but some historians viewed it as an architectural “casualty” of the 1930s and a “missed opportunity” to show Oxford as a modern city
