New College, Oxford, is one of the oldest, largest, and architecturally most significant colleges within the University of Oxford, despite its name suggesting otherwise. Founded in 1379 by Bishop William of Wykeham, it was officially called “Saint Mary College of Winchester in Oxenford” and earned the “New College” title simply to distinguish it from Oriel College, an existing institution also dedicated to St Mary. lovely buildings with Its gardens and cloisters, partly laid on medieval city walls and ancient burial grounds - potentially a plague pit.
Interesting facts....
It is said haunting is tied to Reverend William Archibald Spooner, famous for “Spoonerisms.” His ghost is reputed to wander the college, easily recognised due to his distinguished appearance and pale features, possibly being the same ghostly priest reported in the chapel. HooooBooooo :-)
