Liberty London was founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty as a shop selling decorative fabrics and objects from the East.

The current timber-framed building on Great Marlborough Street was constructed in 1924, using reclaimed wood from HMS Hindustan and HMS Impregnable, both Royal Navy ships. Its distinctive mock-Tudor style and beautiful interiors were intended to evoke the comfort of an English stately home, providing the perfect backdrop for Liberty’s luxury wares. It has a fireplace in each room.

interesting facts...

The frontage of the store is the same length as the HMS Hindustan, and the wooden floorboards under your feet are the old ship decks.
