The Jardin des Tuileries is a historic and expansive public garden in Paris, located between the Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde. It was originally created by Catherine de’ Medici in 1564 as part of the Tuileries Palace, which no longer exists today. The garden was redesigned in 1664 by André Le Nôtre, giving it its current French formal style. It features numerous statues, including works by Aristide Maillol and Auguste Cain, as well as contemporary sculptures. The garden is also home to the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Jeu de Paume, both housing notable art collections
Interesting fact….
Next to Charles Perrault’s statue (he was the author of “Sleeping Beauty”) stands a small bronze of Puss in Boots, a detail often missed by visitors.
