Hampton Court House is an 18th‑century Grade II listed mansion on Hampton Court Road, fronting Hampton Court Green and backing directly onto Bushy Park in East Molesey.
The house was built around 1757 by George Montagu‑Dunk, 2nd Earl of Halifax, for the opera singer Anna Maria Donaldson, and is attributed to the architect and astronomer Thomas Wright.
Over the later 18th and 19th centuries it passed through aristocratic and naval hands, including the Earls of Suffolk and Sandwich, Admiral Lord Keith, and members of the Twining tea family.
Interesting facts...
The house was commissioned by the Earl of Halifax for his mistress, the opera singer Anna Maria Donaldson, which gave it a slightly discreet, pleasure‑house character from the outset rather than that of a straightforward family seat.
It also was home to Vietnamese Children who were resettled in between 1975 and 1990.
