Gonville and Caius College, often referred to simply as Caius (pronounced “keys”), is one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges at the University of Cambridge. 

 

It was first established in 1348 as Gonville Hall by Edmund Gonville, making it the fourth-oldest surviving college at Cambridge. John Caius designed three famous gates symbolizing the student journey: the Gate of Humility, the Gate of Virtue, and the Gate of Honour. The gate of Virtue is seen above .

 

It has produced an impressive 15 Nobel Prize winners including Francis Crick the discoverer of  DNA. Although Joh. Casius original entry requirements were a bit offInsisting that the college admit no scholar who was “deformed, dumb, blind, lame, maimed, mutilated, a Welshman, or suffering from any grave or contagious illness”
