Euridge Manor sits in rolling countryside close to Castle Combe, often described as one of the prettiest villages in England. (I have painted this also)
The core house is Georgian in style, though the site lies within the grounds of what was once Sir Walter Raleigh’s hunting lodge and has 17th‑century origins.
The present ensemble is highly theatrical, combining restored historic fabric with deliberately romantic features such as a “castle ruin”, orangery and Italianate portico.
Interesting facts....
The beautiful pool is also a quarry providing Bath Stone for the building work. The building although looking old is mainly new but in a whimsical style.
