Doorway of the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari (often just the Frari) in Venice.
The church is famous for its soaring brick architecture, monumental Renaissance art (especially Titian), and funerary monuments. If you’re visiting Venice with an interest in architectural history and Venetian Renaissance art, the Frari is one of the city’s most important sites.
The Frari’s main entrance is a distinctive Gothic brick portal with only modest decoration—consistent with Franciscan humility.
Interesting facts...
step inside and look to the left to see Canova’s Neo-classical marble pyramid monument. This was originally designed by Canova himself as a monument for Titian, but after Canova’s death in 1827, his students used it as his own tomb. However it isn't his body in there just his heart!
