Interesting facts...
It is rumored (but not proven) that clay for some bricks was dug from two pits that later became the lakes in Clissold Park.
The house’s name changed from Paradise House to Clissold House after Eliza Crawshay, who inherited the estate, married Reverend Augustus Clissold despite her father’s opposition. Her father even built a high wall between their properties to keep them apart!
