Carnaby Street is a famous pedestrianised shopping street located in Soho, Central London, near Oxford Street and Regent Street. It is known for its vibrant mix of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands, including independent boutiques and global flagship stores. The street has a rich history dating back to the late 1600s but rose to international fame in the 1960s as a hub of fashion and culture associated with the Swinging London era, attracting music icons like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and pioneering boutiques that defined Mod fashion.

Interesting facts.

Not quite fashion but In 1665, during the Great Plague, the first “pesthouse” for plague victims in London was built on what would become Carnaby Street, originally named after Karnaby House built in 1683.

The women’s boutique ‘Lady Jane’ caused a stir by having models change clothes in shop windows, drawing such crowds that the owner was arrested for obstructing the highway
