Beckford’s Tower is a prominent neoclassical architectural folly. It stands on Lansdown Hill just above Bath, Somerset. Built in 1827 for the flamboyant writer and art collector William Beckford, it offers some of the best views over in Somerset and has recently reopened after major restoration.
Beckford used the tower as a private retreat and personal museum, filling it with treasures and rare books moved from his former Fonthill Abbey.
