Lyme Park is a large historic estate centred on Lyme Hall, a grand country house set in formal gardens and a 1,300‑acre deer park on the edge of the Peak District near Disley, Cheshire. Associated with the Legh family and the setting of “Pemberley” in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
Lyme originated as a grant of land following the Battle of Crécy in 1346, when Sir Thomas Danyers was rewarded for recovering the Black Prince’s standard.
