Apothecaries’ Hall is the oldest surviving livery hall in the City of London, with parts dating back to the 13th century. It is the historic headquarters of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London, a prominent livery company founded in the early 17th century. The Hall is located at Black Friars Lane and was originally part of the Dominican priory of Black Friars, known as Cobham House before the Society purchased it in 1632.

 

Interesting facts

Agatha Christie, the famous mystery writer, once took pharmacy exams at Apothecaries’ Hall. Her deep knowledge of drugs and poisons, gained here, informed many of her novels
