Alexandra Palace, affectionately known as “Ally Pally,” is a historic entertainment and sports venue located in North London, between Wood Green and Muswell Hill. It was named after Princess Alexandra of Denmark, who married Prince Albert Edward in 1863. The palace opened in 1873 but was rebuilt after a fire and reopened in 1875. It features various halls, an ice rink, and a theatre, and has been a significant site for public recreation, education, and entertainment. Notably, it was a pioneering location for television broadcasting by the BBC in the 1930s
