The Acropolis of Athens is perhaps the most important ancient architectural site in the world. Absolutely fundermental to Western architecture and learning. Each building which forms the cluster is unique and important.

 

Interesting facts....

 

The Acropolis sits atop a rocky hill that rises about 150 meters above Athens and has been inhabited since at least the 4th millennium BCE, making it one of the oldest continuously used sites in Europe.

The reason we have so many artifacts is because of the action sof the Atenians. The Acropolis was destroyed by the Persians in 480 BCE, and Athenians later buried the surviving relics and offerings from the ruined temples on the site, which archaeologists have since uncovered
