Watercolour of a peculiar old London reminant.
A row of listed townhouses adjacent Tate Modern. Rumoured to be the home of a Spanish Princess and Sir Christopher Wren whilst he build St.Paul’s.
The blue plaque states:
"Here lived Sir Christopher Wren during the building of St Paul's cathedral," proclaims an ornate ceramic plaque on the house on the south bank of the river Thames.
"Here also, in 1502, Catherine Infanta of Castile and Aragon, afterwards first queen of Henry VIII, took shelter on her first landing in London," it adds proudly.
Infact Wren stayed a few doors down and princesses dont stay in old pubs.
The plaque was actually added by the old owner but there was actually a great benefit to this. When faced with demolition at the turn of the century the terraces were saved.
