Christ Church Spitalfields is one of Nicholas Hawksmoor’s greatest baroque masterpieces. The interior is as grand and heavy as the exterior.
On some days you can visit hidden Vestry Rooms Behind the Alta. also the Crypt which is an impressive volume. Hawksmoor also has impressive joinery details so check out the stairs.
 
Interesting fact..
The church was closed as structurally unsafe in 1957, but the Hawksmoor Committee formed to prevent demolition. The Friends of Christ Church Spitalfields (established 1976) raised £15 million for the award-winning restoration.
