Selwyn College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge founded in 1882 in memory of George Augustus Selwyn, the first Bishop of New Zealand and later Bishop of Lichfield. The college was initially an all-male institution but became one of the first Cambridge colleges to admit women, starting in 1976.
Notable alumni of Selwyn College range across various fields, including actors Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander, computer pioneer Sophie Wilson, and Archbishop of York John Sentamu.
The above fabulous red buildings were built in 1880, by architect Sir Arthur Blomfield. It is designed in the Victorian Late Perpendicular Gothic Revival style using Ketton stone and local red brick.

The Controversialists, founded in 1893 for reading and discussing poetry and drama, and The Templars, a larger society once exclusive to wealthy Anglican students, known for a sword-knighting initiation ceremony.
