Watercolour of Bush House. Bush House is a Grade II listed, iconic building located at 30 Aldwych, London WC2B 4BG, at the southern end of Kingsway between Aldwych and the Strand. It was constructed between 1925 and 1935, designed by American architect Harvey Wiley Corbett and commissioned by industrialist Irving T. Bush as a major Anglo-American trade centre.
Bush House is famous for being the headquarters of the BBC World Service for over 70 years, from 1941 until the BBC’s final broadcast there in 2012. The building sustained bomb damage during WWII but continued to serve as a global broadcasting hub until the BBC moved to Broadcasting House in Portland Place.
Interesting fact...
At its completion, it was declared the “most expensive building in the world”.
Since 2015, Bush House has been part of King’s College London’s Strand Campus
