Newton Hall is a coastal country house wedding venue and boutique hotel near High Newton‑by‑the‑Sea, close to Alnwick in Northumberland, known for its dramatic coastal setting and emphasis on outdoor and beach weddings.
The present Newton Hall was built in the late 18th century as a country house for Joseph Forster, a physician and landowner whose family held a substantial part of the Newton‑by‑the‑Sea township in the 18th century.
The house stands on rising ground just south of High Newton‑by‑the‑Sea, planned so that its principal rooms could command views towards the North Sea coast.
Interesting facts...
Grade II* in a village context: For a relatively small coastal settlement, it is unusual to have a house of Newton Hall’s scale and a Grade II* listing, marking it out as one of the more important small Georgian villas in rural Northumberland.
