Watercolour of LSE. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a world-renowned university specializing in the social sciences. Founded in 1895, LSE quickly established itself as a leading institution for economics, statistics, political science, law, sociology, and related fields. It became part of the University of London in 1900, awarding the first university degrees dedicated to the social sciences soon after.
LSE’s main campus is located off Aldwych in central London, with historic buildings such as the Old Building (painted here) on Houghton Street, whose foundation stone was laid by King George V in 1920 and opened in 1922
