Berry Bros. & Rudd (BBR) is Britain’s oldest family-owned wine and spirits merchant, founded in London in 1698. Originally established as a grocer’s shop by the Widow Bourne opposite St. James’s Palace, the company has evolved over more than 325 years while maintaining its historic headquarters at No. 3 St James’s Street, London, which is now a Grade II* listed building.
The company began by selling coffee and later diversified into exotic goods including cocoa, tea, snuff, and spices before eventually becoming wine merchants in the late 18th century.

Firstly, grocer’s weighing scales that began to be used in the 18th century. During the time of the Pickering family running the business, these scales were employed not only for weighing goods but also to weigh notable customers. This included the King Regent.
The wine cellars hold wines of a few hundred years old. Including Napolean Cellar. In fact, the cellars are huge; some two acres of cellar sit under this little shop, which is incredible.
