Christ’s College, Cambridge is a historic constituent college of the University of Cambridge, founded originally as God’s House in 1437 by William Byngham to train grammar school masters. It relocated to its current site in 1448 and received its modern name and royal charter in 1505 through the endowment of Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII.

John Milton, the poet, studied here from 1625, with a mulberry tree in the garden linked to him. Charles Darwin attended in the 19th century, and the comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. (now there is a mix) It also has resident cats!

Interesting facts...

Apparently the Milton mulberry tree has its own ghost. A remorseful old Fellow Christopher Round paces around the  tree and the 17th-century swimming pool in the Fellows’ Garden at midnight; he allegedly drowned a romantic rival there centuries ago.
